Turmeric Health Benefits

 

    If you are popping far too many ibuprofen like Advil and Motrin for everything ranging from headache, backache and other muscular aches and pains, consider trying turmeric as an alternative. While ibuprofen is great at reducing pain and inflammation, there are many adverse effects from long-term use. Luckily nature has provided a safer, natural alternative…turmeric. According to Web MD 

Turmeric is a plant.It has a warm, bitter taste and is frequently used to flavor or color curry powders, mustards, butters, and cheeses. But the root of turmeric is also used widely to make medicine.

Turmeric is used for arthritis, heartburn (dyspepsia), stomach pain, diarrhea, intestinal gas,and stomach bloating.

Here are two tea recipes to try.

 Basic Version
Ingredients

  • 4 cups of water
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric
  • Lemon or honey (or both!) to serve

Directions
Heat 4 cups of water, bringing it to the boil.
Add 1 teaspoon of turmeric.
Reduce the heat and let the mixture simmer for around 10 minutes.
Remove from the heat and strain using a fine sieve.
Pour into serving cups and add lemon or honey to taste.

 

Turmeric Lemon Tea

Ingredients

  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/8 tablespoon ground ginger
  • 1/8 tablespoon turmeric
  • Pinch of Cayenne
  • Honey to taste

Directions
In a mug, mix together the lemon juice, turmeric, ginger and cayenne.
Top with boiling water.
Stir well.
Add honey to sweeten to your personal taste.
